8D LATIN EXAM, MICHAELMAS TERM 2011
THE EXAM
This
will be the appropriate scholarship paper for your senior school
Each paper will be slightly
different but will usually consist of the following:
- A Latin passage,
approximately 8-15* lines long with English comprehension questions. This
passage should not be
translated
- A passage of Latin
approximately 8-15* lines long to be translated in to English
- Some grammar
questions. These may include some sentences to translate from English into
Latin (note-these are definitely included in Common Academic Scholarship
papers)
- There will be some
extra vocabulary help given but not very much so you should make sure you
learn as much CE vocab as possible (see “What to Revise” below).
*The length of the passage depends
on the school
WHAT TO REVISE
Vocab
- You should revise as
much CE vocab as possible (Levels 1, 2 and 3)
Grammar
(all topics can be found in your scholarship grammar booklet)
- All verb tenses.
Don’t forget to learn these tenses for “SUM” as well
- The ablative
absolute (to be covered after half term)
- Participles (to be covered after half term)
- Try to read through as much of
your grammar booklet as possible
