YEAR 7 CE LATIN EXAM, SUMMER TERM 2010
THE EXAM
The exam will be a simplified Common Entrance
Paper (Level 1) The exam will consist of the following:
LATIN
- A Latin passage, approximately 8 lines
long with English comprehension questions. This passage should not be translated
- A passage of Latin approximately 10
lines long to be translated in to English
- A Latin passage, 5 lines long with some
English grammar questions. This passage should not be translated. Example questions:
a. give
a verb in the imperfect tense
b. Write down a feminine noun
You will get some
additional vocab help in the exam
ESSAY
- You will also have to write a short
essay on the following topic:
Note that the question has two parts.
i. Tell the story of the Wooden Horse and how it brought the Trojan War
to an end. (8 Marks)
ii. If you had been a Greek soldier how would you have gained entry into
Troy? You
should think of your own method, don’t just say “I would do the same as
Odysseus.” No modern weapons please (e.g. bombs, guns etc) (2 Marks)
