7P LATIN EXAM, MICHAELMAS TERM 2011

THE EXAM

The exam will be a CE Paper (Level 1) and will consist of the following:

• A Latin passage, approximately 8 lines long with English comprehension questions. This passage should not be translated

• A passage of Latin approximately 10 lines long to be translated into English

• Approximately 8 grammar questions.

You will get some additional vocab help in the exam because we have not covered all of the Level 1 vocab yet

· An essay question with the following title:

a. Tell the story of Perseus and Medusa (8 marks)

b. Do you think that Perseus is a good example of a Greek hero? Write “yes” or “no” and give two reasons for your answer (2 marks)

(Please note that the essay question will be in two parts. You must answer both parts to achieve full marks).

WHAT TO REVISE

• You should revise as much CE vocabulary as possible especially the words which you have learnt for tests this term: CE Vocabulary list, p2 columns 2-3: numquam-si

• Verb tenses: present, imperfect and perfect tense

• Perseus and Medusa sheet
