N.B. I will not be setting
you a scholarship paper over the holiday. Your main
priority is to consolidate your grammar and vocab knowledge, specifically the
points listed below:
The CE vocab list (Levels 1-3)
Try to learn as many new
words as possible and make sure you can remember all the words you have learnt
so far. We will be starting scholarship style words
next term so make the most of this opportunity to consolidate your CE vocab
knowledge.
The Passive Voice
Make sure that you understand
the passive voice and that you know the passive verb endings thoroughly. See Beginners' Latin website for details.
Uses of the subjunctive:
Make sure you know the
difference between the following constructions and how they
are formed: (see notes in your exercise books)
PTO
If you are feeling confused
by some of the basic grammar, have a look at the “Beginners’ Latin” link on
Cyberlatin which has some useful explanations, noun and verb tables.
There are also some excellent online
exercises for practising many of the above points on the Cambridge Latin
website (books 3 and 4) which you can
access from the Cyberlatin home page.
Remember to make use some of the activities
on Cyberlatin in your revision. I will try to add more
during the holiday. A reminder of the address:
Don’t forget to use the link to QUIA. You will
find many CE and scholarship vocab activities there.
I also recommend
the Cambridge Latin vocab tester for Book III. This is
a good way to pick up new scholarship style vocab.
