THE EXAM

 

The exam will be a CE Paper (Level 3) and will consist of the following:

 

 

 

 

You will get some additional help (vocab and grammar) in the exam because we have not covered all of the Level 3 syllabus yet

 

WHAT TO REVISE

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

These are a cross between a verb and an adjective and so must agree with the noun which they are describing:

 

Present:

 

These decline like “REX” (3rd Declension) and tend to have ns at the end or nt in the middle of the word e.g.

 

vir sedens fessus erat=the sitting man was tired

 

femina virum sedentem vidit=the woman saw the man sitting

 

 

 

Perfect Participle Passive (PPP)

 

These decline like “PUELLA, DOMINUS and BELLUM” (1st and 2nd Declension) and are formed from the 4th Principal Part of a verb e.g.

 

amo, amare, amavi, amatum = “having been loved” or just “loved”

 

e.g. puella ab matre amata, matri donum dedit =the girl, loved by her mother, gave her mother a present

 

Watch out for irregular verbs e.g.

 

mitto, mittere, misi, missum= “having been sent” or just “sent”

 

e.g. servi, ab domino missi, epistulam regi dederunt=the slaves, sent by their master, gave a letter to the king
